I'm an electrician. Every week I'm buying cable, breakers, boxes and fittings, and the same drum of 2.5mm T&E can be £19 cheaper at one supplier than the next. Checking five websites between jobs isn't realistic.
So I built the tool I wanted. Search one item and see every supplier by price per metre, ex or inc VAT. Or drop in the materials for a job and see the cheapest way to buy the lot, split across suppliers or all from one counter.
How we label shops
The cheapest price is only a good deal if the shop is real. So every result gets a label:
Trusted shop: one of the big UK national suppliers, such as Screwfix, Toolstation, CEF, Rexel, Wickes, B&Q, Travis Perkins or City Plumbing.
Known shop: an established shop or brand we recognise, but not one of the big national chains.
Marketplace seller: sold through eBay, OnBuy or Amazon Marketplace, where anyone can sell. Check the seller's rating.
Unfamiliar shop: one we don't know yet, with a link to its reviews so you can check first.
Unusually cheap: 30% or more below the usual price from a shop we can't vouch for. It might be a steal, or it might not be genuine.
Want only the big names? Tap Trusted only above the results. Promo codes work the same way: tap Worked or Didn't work, and codes enough people report as dead stop counting towards the price.
How Undercut makes money
Pro. Members pay a small monthly fee for unlimited job pricing, customer quotes, saved lists, CSV export, and no ads.
Ads for free users, clearly labelled.
Commission. Some shop links earn us a small cut when you buy. It never changes the Smart Basket ranking: sponsored or affiliate relationships do not buy a cheaper position.
Trade partners. Suppliers can eventually pay for clearly labelled sponsored offers or qualified trade leads, while the core basket remains price-neutral.
Who is responsible for the order?
Undercut compares and organises supplier offers. When you choose a retailer, the purchase is made directly with that retailer. The retailer's own terms govern payment, fulfilment, returns, refunds, warranties and product support. Undercut does not sell or manufacture the listed products.

Who we are
What Undercut is
Undercut is a price comparison service. We show prices from shops and suppliers and link you to them. We don't sell anything and we don't take payment for goods. When you buy, you buy from that supplier under their terms, and they are responsible for delivery, returns, refunds and warranties.
Prices and stock
Prices, delivery costs, stock and codes come from third parties and change often. We work hard to keep them accurate, but we can't guarantee them. Always check the price, VAT and delivery at the supplier's checkout before you pay. Where a price is per metre or per unit, that is calculated from the pack size the supplier lists.
Links, commission and sponsored content
Some links earn us a commission when you buy. That never changes the order of results. Any sponsored content is clearly labelled.
Facebook Marketplace and private sellers
For car parts we may show a link to search Facebook Marketplace. Those listings are posted by individuals and are not checked, compared or vouched for by Undercut. Any purchase is between you and the seller, and it is up to you to verify the part, its condition and the seller before you pay. Facebook's own terms apply on their site. We don't recommend paying by bank transfer to someone you don't know.
Discount and promo codes
Codes are found in public listings and may expire or have conditions set by the shop. Promo codes are shown to everyone. Codes that state a saving (such as "10% off") are shown to Pro members. A code that people report as not working stops counting towards the price. The shop decides whether a code is accepted.
Undercut Pro
Pro is a monthly subscription (currently £5.99 a month) that renews each month until you cancel.
Free trial: the first 7 days are free. Stripe emails you a reminder before the trial ends. If you cancel during the trial, nothing is charged.
Cancelling: cancel any time from your account. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.
14-day refund: when you start Pro you ask for it to begin straight away. If you cancel within 14 days of your first payment, we'll refund the unused part of that payment. Email us or cancel from your account.
Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your card number.
Using the site fairly
Please don't scrape the site, overload it, resell our data, or try to get around limits and Pro features. We may limit or block access if you do.
Liability
We provide Undercut "as is". We aren't responsible for a supplier's price, stock, delivery or conduct, or for losses from relying on a listing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes and law
We may update these terms and will change the date above. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Questions? See our contact page.

Orders and returns
Undercut doesn't take or handle orders. For delivery, returns, refunds and warranty, contact the supplier you bought from. Each supplier in your basket has a "Returns / help" button with their details.

Privacy and cookies
Undercut collects as little as it can. Here's what, why, and who sees it.
Who is responsible for your data:
What we collect
Your email, if you join, sign up for the Friday email, or set a price alert. We use it to sign you in and send what you asked for.
Your account details: your plan, price alerts, and how many jobs you've priced today, so the free daily limit works.
Pro extras: your saved lists, your trade discounts and your business details (name, address, VAT number) are stored on our servers so they work on your phone and laptop.
Customer quotes (Pro) can include your customers' names and addresses. We store them only to show them back to you, and delete them when you delete the quote or your account.
Your searches, to show results and fix wrong prices. They're only linked to you if you set a price alert.
Questions you type into "Ask Undercut", to answer them. If our AI assistant is switched on, they're sent to the AI provider to write the answer, without your name or email.
Payment details are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
Why we use it (lawful basis)
Contract: to run your account and your Pro subscription.
Legitimate interests: to keep the site secure, stop abuse and prevent fraud.
Consent: for the Friday email and for analytics and advertising cookies. You can withdraw it at any time.
Cookies and similar storage
Essential (always on): keeps you signed in and remembers your cookie choice.
Analytics (only if switched on and only if you accept): Google Analytics tells us which pages and searches are used, so we can improve Undercut.
Advertising (only if switched on and only if you accept): Google AdSense may use cookies to show ads to free users. If you say no, no ads are loaded at all.
On your device: your basket, theme, postcode, and (on the free plan) your trade discounts are kept in your browser's storage.
Your postcode
If you add a postcode, it is stored in your browser. When you search, we send it to our price provider so shops that support it can show prices for your area, and to postcodes.io to turn it into a town name. We don't save it on our servers or link it to your account.
Who we share it with
Cloudflare: hosts the site and our data.
Stripe: takes Pro payments.
Resend: sends our emails (sign-in links, alerts, the Friday email).
SerpApi / Google Shopping: fetch prices. Only the search words (and your postcode, if set) are sent, never your name or email.
Google Analytics and AdSense: only if they're switched on, and only if you accept those cookies.
Our AI provider, if the assistant is switched on (see above).
Product photos and shop logos load from the shops' own servers, which can see your IP address, like any website. We don't sell your data.
How long we keep it
Accounts that are never confirmed by email are deleted after 30 days.
Other accounts are kept until you ask us to delete them: just email us.
Unsubscribing removes you from the Friday email straight away.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email our contact email and we'll reply within a month. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
